My Nail Obsession

I have an addiction I think it’s terminal & my obssesion is Nail Varnish. I love painting my nails trying different colours & patterns & my collection has been steadily growing over the last year right now I’m up to around 80 nail vanish including nail art striping brushes & pens.

Photobucket
This was my collection back in August last year I had 45 polishs then

Photobucket
This is my collection now I have 106 polishes although a few of them are not shown here as they are multiples. I don’t actually have favourite nail varnish brand & I don’t spend a fortunes on expensive product as I find the majority of the cheaper brands work just as good as the more expensive brands but I woul love at least one of each of the following brands to add to my collection Essie, Nfu-oh, OPI & China Glaze.

I currently store them in these storage draws, I bought them from Morrisons a while ago although I think they still do them they were about £5.

Photobucket

I prefer to store my nail varnish’s by colour I find it easier e.g. Draw 1 – Blacks, whites, greys & silvers,  Draw 2 – Reds & Pinks, Draw 3 – Blues & Purples Draw 4 – Yellows, Oranges, Browns, Golds & Greens.

Photobucket

I really want a nail varnish rack but they are pretty expensive around £20/£30 for a rack that stores 30 & I’d need at least three so I plan on making one eventually (Or trying at least). Here the gist of what I want it to look like….

Lately I’ve been trying out different patterns & designs I bought some dotting tools & I’ve recently heard of Konad Nail Stamps (I know I’m way behind lol) The reason I love the idea of these plates so much is the fact I can’t wear nail varnish at work so I only get to wear it friday till sunday & this way I can get a professional(ish) looking manicure at home & I don’t have waste money going to salons. So I just had to get some and try them out so here is what I’ve been trying out lately….

Photobucket

Photobucket

I bought these from Ebay, Amazon & Konad Wholesale but you can just type your search into google

I loved the Zebra design which is why I chose plate M57. I definatly want to invest in more Konad plates & polishes but they are pretty expensive at £5+ for plate & £3.20+ for the special stamping polishes although I definatly recommend buying this special polish as they show up much better than regular polish’s. I also bought the Bundlemonster stamping plates.

Photobucket

These were £16.99 for 25 an absolute bargain from Amazon & so far the ones I’ve tried work just as well as the Konad plate for a fraction of the price.

So what do you think? Have You tried Konad? Do you prefer another brand? How do store your nail polishes? Also tune in tommorow for my new weekly post Fancy Fingers (obviously about my nails lol)

My 1st DIY Phone case

Just a quick post to show you my DIY phone case….

Before

After
20111027-061040 PM.jpg

It was really easy & cheap to do I played around with the positioning of the crystals for awhile then glued them down.

I used

Swarovski crystals 2mm in Jet, AB & Crystal each came in a pack of 100 for £1.99 & Super glue came in a pack of 5 for 99p

& a clear back case for the Iphone 4s £1.99

allI the above were bought from Amazon

I used a damp cotton swab to pick up the crystals & an old paintbrush to dab on the glue

all together this cost me about £10 and around 30/40 mins to make

I’ve ordered more crystals & accesories in different colours & I’ve also ordered the Gem-tac glue I will show you more when they arrive. If your planning your own DIY project I would reccomend using larger crystals as 2mm are actually very tiny but good for filling gaps for my next project I will be using 3mm & 3.2mm crystals & 3mm pearls :)

Decoden my new obsession….

I have a new love & I’ve got it bad and its name is Decoden! Up until a couple of weeks ago i’d never even heard of it Im sure some of you have and some of you haven’t so heres the low down on Decodenning in my point of veiw.

Photobucket

What is Decoden?

It’s basically when you take something dull and uninteresting such as this….

Photobucket

and turn it into something like this….

Photobucket

Decoden is a term origanated in Japan ‘deco’ meaning to decorate and den from the japanese word denwa meaning phone but decoden doesn’t just has to stop at phones cases the possibilities for decoration are endless as if you look on etsy you will find out. You can decorate phones cases, ipod cases, jewellery boxes, mirrors, clothes, vases, you name it you can decorate it.

How can I get into it?

Here in the UK there are very VERY few craft stores that sell anything remotely like the decoden peices you see here,

Photobucket

but Ebay & Etsy have loats of sellers that sell great decoration peices for a great price. Also if you google it there are many more stores that sell deco peices.

Where should I start?

As Im also a newcomer to this crazy but completely awesome deco world I’d say a cheapish phone case would be your best bet. I ordered the one above for my Iphone 4s from Amazon for the bargain price of £2 with free delivery. Amazon are great for cheap phone case they do a case for almost any phone but if they don’t sell your phone case then a small pocket mirrer such as this…

Photobucket

This makes a great base for design and they are relativly cheap to buy but just let your imagination run wild.

What do I need?

You can use basically any craft glue but the best glues for decoden are E600 glue & Gemtac glue

Photobucket
Photobucket

You can find both on Amazon or at most craft/DIY stores.

I have bought Swarovski crystals for my case but you can use almost anything to decorate your items thats the beauty of decoden. For supplies e.g. bows, flowers etc… i’d recommend buying from etsy as they have a huge range of items and sellers. but there are also sellers on ebay and online shops you can buy from.

Where’s your phone case then?

Well thats the part that sucks :(, I’ve received everything but the crystals (I’ve ordered swarovski crytals also bought on amazon) so im stuck waiting around but hopefully they should be here next week once I’ve done i’ll post a picture for you all to see hopefully it’ll turn out well :)

Anyway if you have any questions feel free to ask & I’ll try my best to help

Kindle Krazy

Okie doke I have to talk to you about one of my absolute favourite possesions….My Kindle!

I read ALOT. My loft is full of books as I have absolutely no room in my bedroom for them all :( .

This little beauty is a life saver! I can dowload an almost unlimited amount of books(35,000). You can also download magazines, read blogs, surf the internet, listen to music & much more.

I have the Kindle with built in Wi-fi at £111 so as long as there is a open internet connection I can browse the kindle store & download books on the go although I mainly download them at home. You can also buy the Kindle 3g for £152.

Photobucket

Unfortunatly due to an unforseen accident (me sitting on it) I’m on my 2nd kindle :( but the people at amazon were very understanding & sent me a replacement within 3 days.  All my pre-downloaded books were easy to retreive to my new kindle. I am now much MUCH more carefull with it.

With books starting from £0.70 (& some free classics) you can find great reading material that won’t break the bank.

Due to the insane amount of choice they have, the kindle reading store can open you up to 1000s of different authors that you may never have encountered before. Such as my current favourites Jeff Lindsay the author of TV show Dexter. (find Dexter books here).

& also my current read Hollywood Warlock by Julie Kushner which is a really good book & was only 86p! (Btw Julie Kushner also writes for the blog Tv Recappers which is really funny)

You can also protect your kindle & make a fashion statment by adding skins or buying a case.

Photobucket

Photobucket

There are hundreds of different styles in every colour ranging from a cheap and cheerful £1.99 to designer cases at £70.

If you love to read & haven’t already got a kindle I really do reccomend them as they are fantastic & very easy to use.
