Bad Blogger x3

Photobucket

I have been such a sucky blogger on here lately the majority of the time I post mainly on Confessions Of A Nail Polish Addict which is very naughty of me as this blog was here first & I do actually have a lot of things i could post about such as my carmine box’s, shopping hauls, trips away, My ebay & Pinterest addiction (although I keep calling it pininterest) etc… etc…

But for now I’m going to show you my 2 of my absolute favourite purchases from this month.

First up is my favourite purchase of the 2. This is something you may remember from way back in my August In my monthly must haves post. This has also been in my wishlist for god knows how long & I never thought I’d manage to get it as they stopped selling them in october…Enter Ebay! I finally figured out Paypal (yea I’m pretty slow) & low & behold there was my coat…. an unwanted Christmas present brand new with tags. It shall be mine!!! I became a little obssevive checking my bids on my breaks staring at it through the screen as though I could will it into my possesion but in the end my stalking payed off and this little beauty is finally mine!

I bought it for £46 the RRP is £90 from River island & I freaking love it! I’m off to Amsterdam at the end off the month & this will be great as its just sooo cosy

The 2nd are these

& Heres me all snuggly in them :)

My Nail Obsession

I have an addiction I think it’s terminal & my obssesion is Nail Varnish. I love painting my nails trying different colours & patterns & my collection has been steadily growing over the last year right now I’m up to around 80 nail vanish including nail art striping brushes & pens.

Photobucket
This was my collection back in August last year I had 45 polishs then

Photobucket
This is my collection now I have 106 polishes although a few of them are not shown here as they are multiples. I don’t actually have favourite nail varnish brand & I don’t spend a fortunes on expensive product as I find the majority of the cheaper brands work just as good as the more expensive brands but I woul love at least one of each of the following brands to add to my collection Essie, Nfu-oh, OPI & China Glaze.

I currently store them in these storage draws, I bought them from Morrisons a while ago although I think they still do them they were about £5.

Photobucket

I prefer to store my nail varnish’s by colour I find it easier e.g. Draw 1 – Blacks, whites, greys & silvers,  Draw 2 – Reds & Pinks, Draw 3 – Blues & Purples Draw 4 – Yellows, Oranges, Browns, Golds & Greens.

Photobucket

I really want a nail varnish rack but they are pretty expensive around £20/£30 for a rack that stores 30 & I’d need at least three so I plan on making one eventually (Or trying at least). Here the gist of what I want it to look like….

Lately I’ve been trying out different patterns & designs I bought some dotting tools & I’ve recently heard of Konad Nail Stamps (I know I’m way behind lol) The reason I love the idea of these plates so much is the fact I can’t wear nail varnish at work so I only get to wear it friday till sunday & this way I can get a professional(ish) looking manicure at home & I don’t have waste money going to salons. So I just had to get some and try them out so here is what I’ve been trying out lately….

Photobucket

Photobucket

I bought these from Ebay, Amazon & Konad Wholesale but you can just type your search into google

I loved the Zebra design which is why I chose plate M57. I definatly want to invest in more Konad plates & polishes but they are pretty expensive at £5+ for plate & £3.20+ for the special stamping polishes although I definatly recommend buying this special polish as they show up much better than regular polish’s. I also bought the Bundlemonster stamping plates.

Photobucket

These were £16.99 for 25 an absolute bargain from Amazon & so far the ones I’ve tried work just as well as the Konad plate for a fraction of the price.

So what do you think? Have You tried Konad? Do you prefer another brand? How do store your nail polishes? Also tune in tommorow for my new weekly post Fancy Fingers (obviously about my nails lol)

Glossy Box vs Carmine vs Feel Unique vs ……

Ok so awhile ago I heard about something called a Birchbox. If you’ve never heard of a Birchbox it’s a company where you pay a monthly subscription (I think it’s $10) and they send you out a little package filled with sample goodies of different make-up/hair & beauty brands for you to try & reveiw. They looked sooo cute I really wanted one but they don’t ship internationally so I had a mini strop & gave up on it for awhile. But then the other day I was youtubing & came across a lot of reveiws for something called a Glossy Box,  so I had a nosy & found a whole new world I was missing out on! I was all OMG! I HAVE to subscribe right now! The Glossy box is basically like a Birchbox but is for the UK market, I was practically sold already but then I stupidly veiwed another billion videos (I have no life lol) & found out about loads of others which totally confused me but today I finally made my decision & chose the Carmine Box.

These are some of the ones I’ve looked at and I’ll be rating these on Packaging, Contents & brands, & Price & then give an overall score. Here are my favourites in order of which I like least to best…

No#5

Latest In Beauty

Photobucket

  • Packaging – 5/10 – Nothing special normal deleivery box just in pink
  • Contents & brands – 6/10 – These are everyday brands that I buy most of the time, Im not saying thats bad I just fancy trying something different.
  • Price - 7.5/10 – I can’t really give it just one price as they have some fantastic deals & others seem abit tight so I’m unsure. prices start at £1 & up for samples.

Overall – 18.5/30

Although I’ve scored this the lowest of the 5 I do think it has a certain appeal as you can choose which sample you would like e.g. you’ve seen a moisturiser but you don’t want to buy a full bottle incase you don’t like it they can send you a satchet to try. But what I am looking forward to is the element of surprise

No#4

Boudoir Prive

Photobucket

  • Packaging & Presentation – 7.5/10 – I do prefer this box to the Glossy box but they are pretty much exactly the same, pale pink & black but the presentation is good
  • Brands & Contents – 7.5/10 – This I probably the one box where I knew the least of the brands & products & the majority don’t look like things I’d be interested in anyway but they do have some good brands on there
  • Price – 7.5/10 – £10 + p+p £2.95 – £12.95

Overall – 22.5/30

There are things I like and dislike about this box but I may try it out eventually

No#3

Glossy Box

Photobucket

  • Packaging & Presentation- 7/10 – All in all this is a very pretty box and great presentation, I guess the only reason I’ve marked it down really is they colour (I’m not a big fan of pale pink)
  • Contents & Brands – 8/10 – To be perfectly honest I don’t really know any of the brands this box contains, which is quite good if you like try new things (which I do) & also the brands are quite High End & expensive which is also nice if like me you can’t afford the full item, Overall though the contents seem good quality
  • Price – 8/10 – It currently sells at £10 + p+p which is about £2.95 - £12.95

Overall - 23/30

I may try this box at a later date just to see what its like as it does seem like a good box & has good contents

No#2

Feel Unique

Photobucket

  • Packaging & Presentation- 9/10 – As you may know by now I’m not really a girly girl & this box is perfect I know its still black & pink but it’s black with hot pink highlight rather than pale pink with black highlight (lowlights?) I also really like how it opens up.
  • Brands & Contents – 8/10 – From what I’ve seen the contents look good & they give you a fair few samples to try out in good sizes
  • Price – 10/10 £9.95 pcm Free worldwide delivery – This is the cheapest of all the boxes a fantastic price.

Overall – 27/10

It was actually neck & neck between this & the Carmine Box, The main reason it won out is because of the contents. I’m seriously considering quitting the gym & just subscribing to both of these lol.

No#1

Carmine Box

Photobucket

  • Packaging & Presentation - 9/10 – Again as you know I’m not the biggest fan of pink & this box has just the right touch of being girly without loads of pink Infact theres no pink whatsoever which I think is great.
  • Brands & Contents – 9/10 – the contents in the picture above are the November box contents which will be the first box I receive & the Dainty doll eyeliner retails at around £10 so the box has basically paid for itself already. Im excited to try all the products in this box & intrigued to see what I’ll be receiving next month.
  • Price – 9/10 £10 + p+p £2.75 – £12.75 -One of the more expensive boxes but the products make it well worth it

Overall – 27/10

This box won out mainly because of the brands and products but also based on reveiws I’ve heard I am really excited to try out all the products I’ll be receiving & will do a reveiw on the box & the products when I receive them.

So do any of you subscribe to any of these? maybe you subscribe to a different one or your thinking of subscribing? Let me know in the comments section

The purse is actually a birthday present for my mum it’s her birthday on the 2nd but I may invest in one for myself. The bag is beautiful and has a gorgeous black & white striped interior.  I absolutely LOVE both of these shoes and I can’t decide which to wear tommorow so I may wear one of each and call it a fashion statement (I’m so cool & hip like that). I also can’t decide which dress so I may have to go in the nuddy pants :0

Sequins & Lace – A Tale Of Two Dresses….

Well as you may or may not know it was my 23rd birthday yesterday (I’m soo old! lol) & to celebrate my birthday next weekend me and 6 of my friends are off to Geordie land aka Newcastle for the weekend & I want to look FANTASTIC! (Or try to anyway). I’ve been dress hunting online & seen a bazillion pretty dresses some of which I posted in Sequins?. But when I went to try the dresses on in the shop they were nowhere to be found & were only being sold online (booo). And I like to try things on before I buy because although they may look nice on the picture they may look hideous on me plus I would have had to order about 12 dresses in different sizes which would cost a fortune & I had no time to be sending them backwards & forwards etc etc so to cut a long and boring story short I went to meadowhall & tried another bazillion dress I liked on and here are the 2 I liked best…..

Baroque Bodycon Sequin Dress £58

I actually saw this dress online but I wan’t really keen on it untill I saw it in the shop. It is seriously stunning the photo doesn’t do it justice, the only problem is that its really small sizing’s and not much stretch so whereas I’m normally a uk size 6 I had to get the uk size 8. It’s also a bit on the pricey side but other than that it fits perfect & looks great.

Pink Lace Bodycon Dress £32

An absolute bargain if you ask me (which you probably didn’t) especially for River Island. I actually have this dress in the Pink colour but you can’t really see the detail because of the white background which is why I also posted it in the Navy. It has diamond shaped cut outs on the sides and is sheer on the top. It’s so fitted and soft it fits great and looks great.

I loved both of these dresses sooo much I really couldn’t decide which to buy, so in the end I bought both (I just can’t help my self). The only problem now is deciding which to wear to go out in but I’ve decided im going to wait till the actually night when I’ve done my hair and make up and then try them on & see which I think is best. With both outfits I plan on using this bag…..

Some gorgeous black & gold heels from Dorothy Perkins which I can’t for the life of me find online. I think they were £40 but I’ll post a picture on friday when I buy them :)

Also anybody from or been to Newcastle on a night out? Whats it like? Where’s a good place to go?

Photobucket

Sequins?….

Are they a YES YES YES Or HELL NO?

As I personally am a lover of all things shiny, glittery, blingy or sparkly then sequins are most definatly a yes for me (I think).

I’m wondering this as I need (well want really but whos keeping score?) a new dress for my birthday as I’m having a girly weekend away with my besties in Geordie Land (aka Newcastle) next weekend. It’s actually my birthday on friday (23 oh the humanity!) but I’m busy all this weekend. so here are some of the pretty shiny sparkly sequinned dresses I’ve fallen in love with….

My 1st DIY Phone case

Just a quick post to show you my DIY phone case….

Before
Photobucket

After
20111027-061040 PM.jpg

It was really easy & cheap to do I played around with the positioning of the crystals for awhile then glued them down.

I used

Swarovski crystals 2mm in Jet, AB & Crystal each came in a pack of 100 for £1.99 & Super glue came in a pack of 5 for 99p

& a clear back case for the Iphone 4s £1.99

allI the above were bought from Amazon

I used a damp cotton swab to pick up the crystals & an old paintbrush to dab on the glue

all together this cost me about £10 and around 30/40 mins to make

I’ve ordered more crystals & accesories in different colours & I’ve also ordered the Gem-tac glue I will show you more when they arrive. If your planning your own DIY project I would reccomend using larger crystals as 2mm are actually very tiny but good for filling gaps for my next project I will be using 3mm & 3.2mm crystals & 3mm pearls :)

Decoden my new obsession….

I have a new love & I’ve got it bad and its name is Decoden! Up until a couple of weeks ago i’d never even heard of it Im sure some of you have and some of you haven’t so heres the low down on Decodenning in my point of veiw.

Photobucket

What is Decoden?

It’s basically when you take something dull and uninteresting such as this….

Photobucket

and turn it into something like this….

Photobucket

Decoden is a term origanated in Japan ‘deco’ meaning to decorate and den from the japanese word denwa meaning phone but decoden doesn’t just has to stop at phones cases the possibilities for decoration are endless as if you look on etsy you will find out. You can decorate phones cases, ipod cases, jewellery boxes, mirrors, clothes, vases, you name it you can decorate it.

How can I get into it?

Here in the UK there are very VERY few craft stores that sell anything remotely like the decoden peices you see here,

Photobucket

but Ebay & Etsy have loats of sellers that sell great decoration peices for a great price. Also if you google it there are many more stores that sell deco peices.

Where should I start?

As Im also a newcomer to this crazy but completely awesome deco world I’d say a cheapish phone case would be your best bet. I ordered the one above for my Iphone 4s from Amazon for the bargain price of £2 with free delivery. Amazon are great for cheap phone case they do a case for almost any phone but if they don’t sell your phone case then a small pocket mirrer such as this…

Photobucket

This makes a great base for design and they are relativly cheap to buy but just let your imagination run wild.

What do I need?

You can use basically any craft glue but the best glues for decoden are E600 glue & Gemtac glue

Photobucket
Photobucket

You can find both on Amazon or at most craft/DIY stores.

I have bought Swarovski crystals for my case but you can use almost anything to decorate your items thats the beauty of decoden. For supplies e.g. bows, flowers etc… i’d recommend buying from etsy as they have a huge range of items and sellers. but there are also sellers on ebay and online shops you can buy from.

Where’s your phone case then?

Well thats the part that sucks :(, I’ve received everything but the crystals (I’ve ordered swarovski crytals also bought on amazon) so im stuck waiting around but hopefully they should be here next week once I’ve done i’ll post a picture for you all to see hopefully it’ll turn out well :)

Anyway if you have any questions feel free to ask & I’ll try my best to help

Kindle Krazy

Okie doke I have to talk to you about one of my absolute favourite possesions….My Kindle!

I read ALOT. My loft is full of books as I have absolutely no room in my bedroom for them all :( .

This little beauty is a life saver! I can dowload an almost unlimited amount of books(35,000). You can also download magazines, read blogs, surf the internet, listen to music & much more.

I have the Kindle with built in Wi-fi at £111 so as long as there is a open internet connection I can browse the kindle store & download books on the go although I mainly download them at home. You can also buy the Kindle 3g for £152.

Photobucket

Unfortunatly due to an unforseen accident (me sitting on it) I’m on my 2nd kindle :( but the people at amazon were very understanding & sent me a replacement within 3 days.  All my pre-downloaded books were easy to retreive to my new kindle. I am now much MUCH more carefull with it.

With books starting from £0.70 (& some free classics) you can find great reading material that won’t break the bank.

Due to the insane amount of choice they have, the kindle reading store can open you up to 1000s of different authors that you may never have encountered before. Such as my current favourites Jeff Lindsay the author of TV show Dexter. (find Dexter books here).

& also my current read Hollywood Warlock by Julie Kushner which is a really good book & was only 86p! (Btw Julie Kushner also writes for the blog Tv Recappers which is really funny)

You can also protect your kindle & make a fashion statment by adding skins or buying a case.

Photobucket

Photobucket

There are hundreds of different styles in every colour ranging from a cheap and cheerful £1.99 to designer cases at £70.

If you love to read & haven’t already got a kindle I really do reccomend them as they are fantastic & very easy to use.
